Our final student concerts before the summer session. Join us for 5 hours of student performances. Each hour features a different group.
9-10 am Newbie Notes (Open House) – Meet our teachers and see some demos of our beginning students. We will feature beginning students, both “The Littles,” ages 4-7, and students ages 8+. The group will start with an all-participants rhythm circle and demo stations with guitar, pitched percussion, piano, winds, and strings. We will end with a few minutes of call-and-response group drumming.
10-11 am New Notes – Instructor Ondine Young (with Rob Finucane) will lead the students through the performance: 1) The Entertainer, by Scott Joplin, arranged by Glen Leinhart, 2) The Deserted Garden, by Florence Price, 3) Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World, Iz version. Musicians in the audience are encouraged to learn this last tune to sing along or play along on a ukulele or an instrument that you bring from home.
11-12 pm Basics, Blues, and Beyond – Instructors Ben Green and Rob Finucane will lead the students through the performance: 1) A group composed blues tune in Ab, 2) Mercy, Mercy, Mercy by Joe Zawinul 3) Summertime by George Gershwin.
12-1 pm Soloists Recital – Students in private and semi-private lessons will perform solos and small ensembles. This recital will feature beginners as well as more advanced students
1-2 pm Soloists Recital 2 – Pianists enrolled in private lessons will perform intermediate and advanced piano solos.
