Originally from San Jose, California, Claire’s first instrument was the trombone, which she played from fifth grade through her undergraduate education at University of California, Santa Cruz. It was there that she discovered her love of singing and went on to earn her Bachelor of Music in Operatic Vocal Performance in 2008. Ms. Gendler was later awarded a scholarship to California Institute of the Arts and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Operatic Vocal Performance in 2020. Claire is passionate about teaching and pedagogy, and has been teaching since 2009. When she’s not teaching, Claire can be found adventuring with friends and family, including her dog, Saffron, who also loves to sing. Fun fact: Claire had been a professional stilt-performer for almost 20 years!
