She received her B.A. in English Literature and Dance from San Francisco State University.
Graduate studies in Linguistics
Further studies: University of Lund, Sweden and University of Florence, Italy

She has volunteered at the following bay area non-profits: Dancin Power, SEVA, Medical relief to Cuba, and teaching English to Afghan refugees.
Her interests include foreign films, the wonders of nature of the bay area and beyond, and, of course world dance and music.
Traveling the world has given her much knowledge and inspiration.  Her trips have included Europe, Bali, India, Cuba, Mexico and more.
She spent several years living/studying in Sweden and Italy.  She is fluent in English, Italian and Swedish, plus a good understanding of French
and Spanish.

Leia has been dancing since she was three years old. Her background in ballet and modern dance, led to an interest in Latin dance: rumba, salsa, samba, cha cha and merengue. She was a member of the San Francisco samba dance troupe, Samba do Coracao, and participated in many Carnaval parades in San Francisco. She has studied dance in the US, Europe and in Cuba. She currently teaches her program “World Dance for All” to seniors in independent residences, as well as to disabled dancers in the bay area.  She thrives on diversity and enjoy meeting people from all walks of life.  She is well-organized, caring and has a passion to help people better their lives.
