Rich Armstrong is available w/ piano accompaniment only or with a duo, trio, quartet, or quintet of virtually any instrumentation requested. His main group,”The Rich Armstrong Trio” typically consists of: trumpet/flugelhorn/ vocals/guitar, Keyboard/ Keyboard bass, and drums.

Rich is also an accomplished classical trumpeter.

Rich also takes music education very seriously, and is a music director of the Waldorf School of the Peninsula and runs a pop program at the San Domenico school. He devotes much of his time to getting kids involved with music and considers the success of his grass root programs to be his highest achievement.

He has also donated his time and performances to many important local causes, including Peanut Butter & JAMMusic Sessions for Kids, the Make a Wish Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Rich Armstrong is one of the Bay Area’s most sought after multi-instrumentalist, switching effortlessly between vocals, trumpet, percussion and guitar. He has a storied career having played, toured and recorded with Boz Scaggs, Tony! Toni! Tone’!, Thomas Dolby, Lydia Pense & Cold Blood, Lyrics Born, Train, and Josh Groban. He has also done stints with Petula Clarke, Train, Spoon, and Jody Watley. He was also a long time member (15 years), and musical director of the now infamous but extremely talented Michelle Shocked, having toured almost every state and country with her.

Rich is the founder and band leader of one of SF’s most elite variety/pop/dance bands, “The 415s” (THE415s.com) which received the award “Best of the Bay” by San Francisco Magazine.  He is also a regular contributing member of SF’s famed Jazz Mafia and founding member of the Crossroads Live Music Experience which brings a high level music concert to Burning Man 5 years running.
